More than a year have passed since I blogged about Microsoft Windows Vista and I finally installed my computer with the OS last night. So far, I am using the bare basic applications, so, touch wood, I'm still pretty OK.
Speed wise, it's quite a breeze for me and I found that surprising since I said myself that Vista is a resource hog. It helps when you are ready for Vista; I got my computer fixed with 4GB of RAM... :D

[...] I’ve got good news and bad news for you. The bad news is - GMail Notifier works on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. This is stated on the main page of GMail Notifier. To be honest, I did not test GMail Notifier on my newly installed Microsoft Windows Vista machine. I love GMail Notifier when I had it on Windows XP; where I can be alerted of incoming emails without the need to login to GMail. [...]

I just got a new laptop with Vista on it for Christmas. I have been building and repairing computers for years now and am trying to keep an open mind towards this new operating system. So far I have been able to find ways to work around the system to attempt a more workable system but I must admit I would rather have XP hands down or even go back to W2K or even W98. I have disabled as many programs and reduced usage as possible. I don't know what Microsoft had in mind when they designed it but as things are now I'm thinking of getting another copy of XP and installing another hard drive to make the unit run at a speed other than SLOOOOOOOOOOW and very inefficient. At this time it's a lousy system in my opinion.

My friend bought a HP with Vista. Personally i find it stupid how every laptop now comes with vista. And its not that vista is extremely terrible but it will bring a computer down to its knees. And on top of that annoy the SHIT out of you with requests to allow programs to do this and this and that. The office version it has is confusing too. They should have kept it the way it was but maybe change around a few things. It is a real big resource hog, I uninstalled Vista off my friends computer and put XP media center edition onto it and it runs A LOT faster and smoother with less RAM usage. I find it stupid that they sell laptops that barely meet Vista's requirements with Vista in the 1st place, its rediculous, the computer will run ok, for a little while but then once you get into gaming or other such things the computer will run horribly slow, even just loading up media player (Which is absolutely pathetic considering its just WMP you're loading up). I'd recommend XP over Vista anyday. A lot of their new "features" are just redone. They've added some restrictions to software, some things don't seem to be too compatible either. Thats just my 2 cents of exploring the OS. Not very impressed.
