forgot to add in....
1. for major infestation...steam clean bed stuff first( before encasing)
2. Just Encase if suspected bed bugs only.( no visual signs of any...but suspect bites on body)

1. pull out your bed to become an island in your room( like a foot away from wall)
2. remove bed skirts / bedding / hot wash and dry
3. In spect mattress / frame and box spring. Spray with alcohol any eggs / bugs
4. sausage-case evrything in saran ( bulk from Canadian Tire) for 1 year.( no
less)( a pain, yeah, but its worth it...to be on safe side 1 year..they can live for a year with no blood)
5. Reassemble bed
6. Wrap doulble sided tape around bed legs
7. Place each leg in a paper plate lined with Diatomaceous ( garden centre /
non toxic...but DO not inhale dust ..they'll be sliced upon crossing it to access bed leg)
8. Declutter room / wash all clothes as above / inspect holes / corners / all crevices for black dots ( poo)
9. The key is to remove their food sorce ( you...can't access), and dying in process, either thru
walking thru the powder, getting stuck on the tape/ or starving to death / dehydration.....the main thing is to keep them away from you...you will be bite free...your total costs will be 30 dollars max....you'll just have to wait out the dying process...but then you'll be ok
10. I did all of the above with my main goal being to make it impossible for them to get to me. Some ideas on the web are just plain ludicrous..like wearing long sleeve clothing. Like..how's that gonna stop them ? they'll crawl around and eventually find an exposed crack of skin....just keep 'em off the bed !!!!!
also...they can't chew thru plastic. The have a delicate tube for suckling your blood, and thats it.....like a mosquito. Try to imagine a mosquito knawing thru 8 layers of saran wrap.
11. Finally, be vigilant about keeping your island and island...not a curtain touchinh the side of your bed...or a cord touching your mattress form a night stand.
12. Who wants to pay $1,000 dollars and deal with chemicals ? remember my motto : keep them at bay ! and watch them die on the way !!!!!

I have them in my bedroom, I think they came in an old tv my husband found in an apartment (he is a maintence guy, and always finds things to bring home) anyway, we were told by the bug guy he works with about "Nuvan strips". you have to order them online, they are about 35.00 for 12 actually 6 are little plastic cases the strips go in, you just place them in the room, and also you can bag up your personal items in plastic bags, and put in a strip into each bag and seal them up. It takes about a week to see the difference, dont go into the room, and close off air vents to the room, the nuvan strips will not damage clothing or personal items, but wash any linens and keep them separated. We bought an air mattress when we realized the bites were bed bugs, I was bitten for several weeks b4 I figured it out, it was horrible, it felt like bugs were burrowing in my skin. I have been sleeping on an air bed for almost 2 months and havent been using the room, Im lucky becuz, ours are only in our bedroom, so I think its getting better now. Im ready to try and put my room back in order and see what happens, this experience has been so terrible, I dont wish it on anyone. But check out the nuvan strips, they do work, I started seeing dead bugs, instead of live ones, after about 2 weeks. good luck guys.

They com from Iraq, they to them are like our mosquito extreme heat or extreme cold work best bug bombs do not work. Most pesticides do not work. Most exterminators use a heat treatment only. My landlord works as a licensed exterminator. Unfortunately my last landlord was an a hole and got me into the mess I was in.

Hi Guys,

I have read all the posts..I am experiencing the same problem.
6 months have gone now since I first found them..not sure where they came from, not sure how they can survive all the treatments that I have had from various pest controller officers who attend my property, but one thing is for sure..THEY AINT GOING WIN!!..I have declared WAR..

I think it is totally 'Trial and error'..after hearing from each pest control officer " that's it..they will never survive that treatment!!" only to discover they have moved to another room, I am now trying everything and anything myself..
I have already replaced mattresses, bed frames, bought mattress encasements, renewed carpets, hoovered everyday, washed bedlinen to an inch of its life, done everything possible..and as my bank balance wont allow anything else, I am now trying all the solutions I already have..
Have used alcohol....killed the little shits right away but not sure about long term??
Have scrubbed household bleach around the skirting boards using a toothbrush
Have immeresed certain items in the bath, using very hot water mixed with bleach
Not really sure what else I can do at this time, but wait..
This has to be one of the most trying and soul destroying things I have ever come across!! [and jesus I have dealt with a lot] but as i say its a WAR.. and I hope all you soliders, like me, come out on top!!
[ps. i know if we dont make light or fun of it, we would go insane ..I know I am already half way there!!]

I'm fighting the fight too. Its the worst thing in the world. I have bites so bad I look like I've been sexually abused. Its insane. I moved out of the house that had bed bugs and all my belongings have been in the garuge for 10 days and he weather has fluctuated between 10 degrees and 45 degrees. How much longer should I leave my stuff out there? Its not much. Just clothes.

question for the experts: many years ago, i read that cornstarch kills bugs, the theory goes, bugs eat the stuff and it expands inside the bug and bam, one sorrry little bug...would this work with bedbugs, i wonder, worth a try, it probably works really well with roaches, i bet psyllium husks would work and it is not as messy, it really expands, anytime you need to thicken soup, etc., add very little and wahlah, you have thick soup, but beware, do not add much

I have bed bugs in my mobile home. Lived here for 4 years and now what I thought were flea bites turns out to be bed bugs. OMG if I known could have maybe got rid of them.Is it to late? It has only been about a month but I swear if I had a gun would kill myself.

4 years ago i had bed bugs, it was horrible. I called the exterminator and they were all gone after 5 weeks. i also thew away my bed my couch my cloths and everything else. I taped over cracks in the wall and slept on a air mattress for 3 years. its a real fight filled with many sleepless nites. Finally i went and bought a new 3,200 bedset. I was terrified about them comming back. Against my better judgement i bought a used 40 guitar to learn to play and guess what there back again. The war continues again what ive learned is think positive if you fear them comming like the secret said you will give your thoughts power and they will come. some time hard to do becouse im laying in bed now feeling like im getting bite all over but when i look there is nothing there. good luck to you and your fight people

Against my better judgement i bought a used 40 guitar to learn to play and guess what there back again.
i just wondering, anyone of u got any successfully case to kill the bed bugs at ur home? I faced the problem too... i read the article, bed bugs can live more than a yrs without feeding. hence, they can kill with 110 degree... so means if u put ur mattress outside the house to let sunrise kill it..it's impossible.... And the egg of the bed bugs is black colour.... so i did experiment it thought the black dots at my mattress is some dirty , but slowly you monitor it, they can start moving..... So, definately the normal insect aerosol wont help.

well bleach seems to make them bleed or release everything thats in them? over the next few weeks I'll be conducting a few experiments with the lil buggars... testing them like lab rats to see what works and what doesn't what annoys them and what can actually kill them... curious about how resilient they really are of course anyone would be, but in order to find a cure they have to be caught and tested...

Ok .. I hate bed bugs !!

I have paid for a company to come in and treat my house, it cost me close to $1000.00 and four treatment later I still found bed bugs ...ugh

The one thing I found that worked was spraying rubbing alcohol on my box spring and mattress. I sprayed the baseboard in the room , I used it on my bed frame and dressers too. Yes the room smelled like alcohol for a few days but it was much better then the bites. The best part is it did not damage the furniture.

I hope this helps and good luck if you hire a company to come in and do it for you ... it was a waste of time and money for me.

Yeah, unfortunately i moved into an apartment unit that had past experiences with bed bugs. My land lord assured me there weren't any in the building and they were gone. One week after moving in, my neighbor down stairs let us know she has them and to be watchful that the buggers might be heading up to my up stairs unit. She said she has been trying for the last 8 months to get rid of them.... sigh...so in an attempt at prevention before they come up to my unit i have encased everything i own in plastic bags, books, clothes, toys, you name it, its gone into ziplock bags, i figure maybe i can save a few things. But what a nightmare, living out of zip lock bags has got to suck. The moment i see a bed bug in my unit, i'm out of here, that is of course after fumigation.... the worst part about it all is the fear that you'll just take one bed bug with you to the next place and that one bug might start a whole new colony and the process starts all over again, once you thought it was safe..... i guess we all have headaches over this situation... Good luck
