Thanks to nemo of Asiayak for a kind invite to participate in Asiayak’s Photo Contest. The winner stands to receive a return air ticket for any destination served by AirAsia. If you do not already know, AirAsia is Malaysia’s very successful budget airlines that fly regionally. They are poised to be the next major airline to fly long-haul on a shoestring but that’s another blog post altogether.
Back to Asiayak’s photo contest. Though the prize is an air ticket, should you choose not to accept that, you can opt for the cash prize of US$150; approximately RM517.00. Not bad for just submitting photos and praying for it to win.
Here’s my submission for the contest. I took this photo while sitting in a tour bus at a roundabout in Bali. The bus was driven at a high speed which made photography difficult. I’m glad the photo turned out alright save for some reflections visible at the bottom left.
Hope I can make it to the finals, if not winning the prize. I urge you to participate in Asiayak’s photo contest; you never know if you’ll land that free air ticket for a nice vacation or cash money.
For 5 days in a week we slog away at work and many of you will be jubilated on Fridays, knowing that weekend is coming by; but not me. For you, weekends represents siesta, breaking away from work stress and short vacations. For me, it represents the dreaded cleaning time!
For most weeks, my weekends are allocated for household chores. Sweeping the floor, followed by vacuuming the entire home and finally mopping the floor - twice; once with liquid detergent and the other with water. Are we done with household chores? Oh no. That’s just the beginning. Let’s move on to complete washing the balcony, the week-long used water closets, bath and shower area.
Can I take a rest now? Nope. There’s wiping the cabinets at home; TV cabinet, book shelves, kitchen cabinets and the ornament cabinets. Rinse the cloth and let’s continue to wipe the television, the radio, the kids’ toys.
Phew! That’s half a days work. Let’s take a breather, have a drink, take lunch before finishing up for the day. The final pieces of chores are changing the bed sheets but before that, I would have to take the mattresses out for a good sunning. That kills all the creepy crawlies and sanitise the bed.
Now that you have read up to this section, you must know why I dread weekends. How I wish I can have lots of money (by the truckloads) so that I can hire a French maid to take care of my home. Domestic help will be a very welcomed relief for me.
Those of you who are my age will definitely remember the cartoon Spy Vs Spy where the cartoon portrayed 2 identical spies but of different colours. Once being white and the other black. Just like their colours, this 2 spies are not compatible and will go after each others’ necks in a bid to outdo one another.
Frankly, I hate this series of cartoon. Absolutely hate them. During my younger days, even though I dislike this cartoon, I will stay glued to the idiot box, not to watch the funny antics but to see what cool spy gadgets that the cartoon used. For those of you who have not seen this series of cartoon, click the YouTube video below to watch one of them; and for those of you who have, here’s a re-run.
Now that you have enjoyed the cartoon, did it spurred you to be a spy? Well, it did for me way back in my teens. After watching Spy Versus Spy on the TV, I was so geared up to be a spy, dreaming of buying spy gadgets like the ones used in the cartoons. But alas, it remains only a dream. In the past, there are no such toys or gadgets available for purchase.
Nowadays, you can read and buy spy gadgets all over the Internet as you please. For example, I found an article about a very discrete but extremely expensive listening bug in the form of a 3-way power plug over at Spy Review.
In Kuala Lumpur, you can patron spy gadget stores located within commercial shopping complexes where products such as spy cams, phone jammers and keyloggers are readily available over the counter. But, if you are adventurous enough and truly a spy-savvy candidate, go ahead and make your own spy gadgets.
